How the Cybertruck conversion works

Offer for the conversion of the Tesla Cybertruck vehicle for individual approval on European roads

Our company performs the Cybertruck conversion, during which we make the following changes:

First, we change the color of the lower part of the original rear lights from red to amber (orange). We perform the change with a gentle intervention into the rear lights. The complete electronics and the upper part of the LED lights, which are individually addressable, remain unchanged so they can be reliably used while driving and for the Tesla light show. In the lower part, we replace 24 pieces of red SMD LEDs in a 3x8 matrix with a matrix of 230 pieces of powerful amber LEDs. The installation of the new LEDs is done under a microscope by soldering with alloys of silver, tin, and copper to ensure sufficient cooling.

We change the behavior of the rear lights using 2 new control units powered by 46.4V, located between the lights and the Cybertruck, which transform the Advanced CAN Flexible Data-Rate communication between the light and the vehicle in real-time so that the turn signals do not light up when braking. Both units are sealed inside the enclosure with waterproof industrial cooling potting compound for outdoor use in all weather conditions.

We perform the change of the trailer socket from the American 4-pin and 7-pin to a new 13-pin socket. We separate the wires for the brake and directional lights, trailer/caravan power supply, right and left marker lights, reverse light, and fog light using new control units.

Installation of a built-in new reverse light, which is homologated in the EU and controlled by an added control unit.

Installation of a built-in fog light, which is homologated in the EU, controlled by an added control unit. The light can be turned on by very briefly turning off the Cybertruck lights on its original touch screen, or with an added physical button with a status indicator.

In the rear corner of the vehicle on both sides, we replace the red side marker light, which is not allowed in the EU, with an amber side marker light that also serves a second function as a homologated LED directional light (turn signal). This light is controlled by an added control unit. This added third directional light is necessary to eliminate the blind spot. On the side of the American version of the Cybertruck, there is a place where a neighboring driver or cyclist cannot see any directional light.

Addition of a rear safety red LED marker light on both sides, combined with a reflector, which is homologated in the EU. This light ensures safe rear red lighting even in the event of a failure of the original lights.

Optionally, before approval for operation, we install protection for the sharp stainless steel edges of the frunk and front corners, top edges, and rear edges using soft rubber edging, which increases the minimum required radius of sharp edges to over 3mm to comply with safety regulations. Edge protection can be black with integrated metal clips, black wide without clips, or transparent glued from the hidden inner edge to maintain the metallic edge look.

We usually perform this basic conversion in Brno. However, we can also perform it directly at the customer's location if they have a heated garage available anywhere in Europe, including the UK, Switzerland, and Norway. Installation is also possible in Japan, China, and Dubai. As of February 2026, we have converted 19 Cybertrucks in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, and England, of which 17 have already been approved.

Our first Cybertruck was converted and approved for operation in the Czech Republic on July 12, 2024.

Furthermore, we can add EU maps for address navigation or active FSD. For the first versions of the Cybertruck, it is necessary to configure the modem for eSIM compatibility with European mobile networks. These modifications are not or will not be necessary once Tesla allows the download of European maps to the Cybertruck.

We can equip the charging port with a special extended adapter for the Cybertruck, which allows single-phase AC charging or DC charging on a 400V or 900V charger. We have verified charging with an initial power of 400kW.

The 120V three-phase output socket for American appliances in the bed can be supplemented with an adapter that allows powering tolerant European 240V appliances in the EU up to 5kW at a frequency of 60Hz.

Both added control units for the rear lights can be updated via WiFi independently of the Cybertruck update. This is for cases when Tesla changes the CAN FD communication protocol via an update, which happened with the first versions, or if we need to fix our software bug, or if a new function needs to be added. For example, the control units are hardware-ready to control the closing of the rear tailgate or winch. The control units are not connected to the internet in the vehicle, nor are they permanently connected to the internet. They only connect when their update is triggered on the Cybertruck display by quickly turning the lights on and off 6 times. The lights will sequentially connect to all surrounding 2.4GHz networks, starting from the strongest signal, using the popular Tesla password "abcd123456". The easiest way to prepare this network is using a phone hotspot. The update takes 1-2 minutes.

We will provide you with Certificates for approval on European roads for all 6 added lights. The lights themselves are also marked with the appropriate signs from the outside.

We can help you with the administration and arranging individual approval in the Czech Republic. Approval and measurements take place physically on the vehicle in Prague. If no problems are found, it takes one day. The customer delivers the vehicle to Prague and back at their own expense. After meeting all conditions and approving any exceptions that cannot be eliminated (view from the vehicle, rearview mirror, steer-by-wire requirements), the vehicle will receive a Czech license plate. Due to the internal policy of the German company TUV towards the Cybertruck vehicle, we cannot arrange measurement and approval directly in Germany. Before the actual approval, in addition to the conversion of lights, edge treatment, and trailer socket, a VIN number must be stamped on the vehicle chassis. So far, we mark vehicles using laser technology at the bottom of the center pillar on the passenger side through an authorized service center.

When approving the Cybertruck for category M1G as an off-road vehicle, unfortunately, the total weight of the vehicle must be officially limited to 3500kg. This limits the possibility of transporting very heavy cargo in the bed while simultaneously carrying 5 passengers. When transporting heavy cargo, the number of passengers in the vehicle is reduced to 4. The advantage is the possibility of using a standard passenger car driver's license.

When approving the tow hitch, we are unable to achieve a towed braked trailer weight of 5000kg even on the Cyberbeast version, but only 3500kg. Upon request, we can add a missing hook with a ball with the elimination of mechanical tolerance for a quiet ride.

We also provide importing the vehicle from the USA. Transport can be by sea or air. The shipping cost cannot be quantified in advance because it depends on where the vehicle is ordered from, transport to the Czech Republic on a tow truck, handling formalities, and paying customs duties, now 10%, which depends on the price and configuration of the vehicle. The usual shipping cost is 10,000 USD. When purchasing a Cybertruck, we check whether recall repairs have been performed: wiper motor, gluing the molding above the doors, replacing the hardened molding around the bed, new wheel covers, updating the oil sensor of the rear motors on the Cyberbeast.

If you decide to become a Cybertruck owner, take into account that Tesla does not provide warranty or post-warranty service in Europe, nor does it supply spare parts for the Cybertruck to its service centers. However, all paid repairs of Cybertrucks, including body shop, can be performed by Czech companies in Prague, Pelhřimov, Brno, and Olomouc. They order parts from cooperating American service companies.

We provide a basic 5-year warranty for the light conversion, added hardware, and software for end customers and companies, which can be extended to 10 years. However, the warranty does not cover our travel expenses. We look forward to converting your new Cybertruck.
